The resulting App, Active 10, has been downloaded over 620,000 times in England. See link below for details of the Active 10 app which is featured in the television program 'The Truth About... Getting Fit' screened on BBC 1 on 31 January 2018: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-42864061
Our servers have collected over a billion data points about mobility over 3 years.
Rumour Evolution Mining
Rumour Evolution Mining aims at understanding how rumours in diverse domains evolve through social media, and predicting their behaviour in real time. Once a rumour draws the public's attention, large-scale user-generated content regarding the rumour including truth and false information is rapidly produced and propagates throughout social media even before mainstream media publish articles. Therefore, it is important to be able to identify particular moments of which journalists should take notice before the dissemination of rumours including disinformation has a catastrophic impact on the public. Methods for automatically predicting noteworthy moments likely to be of interest to journalists during rumour evolution are currently being developed. This project combines large-scale temporal data and outlier analytics. Moreover, the incorporation of simple but effective and efficient natural language processing will enhance the performance of the proposed methods.
The overarching objectives of Mobilise-D are threefold:
- to deliver a valid solution for real-world digital mobility assessment;
- to validate digital mobility outcomes to predict clinical endpoints in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Proximal Femoral Fracture Recovery, and Congestive Heart Failure;
- to obtain key regulatory and health stakeholder approval for digital mobility assessment.

Business Intelligence
With the coming changes to higher education funding it is critical that higher education bodies are able to effectively demonstrate that they are widening participation and efficiently recruiting students from across the country. Thus it is vital that the higher education bodies have accurate and usable information regarding the student population. Thus higher education bodies must increase their Business Intelligence with regard to understanding the student population.This project is about increasing the level of knowledge and understanding about our students through the use of linked data. Currently information in the university is heterogenously spread across a number of databases and resources – data is sparse and unconnected. Our proposal is that we can a) connect together these disparate data sources using linked data techniques and furthermore b) integrate this information with external information which we pull from various open data sources. In doing this we will increase business intelligence within the University and at the same time our aim is to produce a tool which will allow our stakeholders to gather together data of interest from both internal and external sources, suitably visualize this information and from these visualisations increase their level of understanding. We will develop this tool, release it to the stakeholder groups and revisiting it at later stages to measure the usefulness and effect on BI overall.
Cilla
